Mission means sent—it speaks of assignment, purpose, and representation. God is the one who initiates the mission, and the Church is called to join in with what He is already doing. We don’t create the mission; we respond to it. That’s why no two churches need to look the same.
John 17:15-18 (NLT): I’m not asking you to take them out of the world, but to keep them safe from the evil one. They do not belong to this world any more than I do. Make them holy by your truth; teach them your word, which is truth. Just as you sent me into the world, I am sending them into the world.
OUR MISSION

2. Praying for Multipurpose Facilities
3. Salvation for our family, friends, neighbours and colleagues
4. For our community to be strengthened across all age groups
5. The Next Generation: Families, Children, Youth and Young Adults
6. A deeper revelation of Jesus and His church
7. Leadership Development that will impact every sphere of life
THE PRIORITY OF THE LOCAL CHURCH BROKEN DOWN INTO 3 ASPECTS
1. SUNDAYS( Confronting spiritual poverty) RECEIVING FROM THE LORD’S TABLE. FOOD \& MEDICINE, WISDOM \& PERSPECTIVE: Our main focus is proclaiming the gospel and salvation through Jesus. Sundays will always involve worship, word and connection. Sundays help us to learn spiritual disciplines like communion, prayer, caring, honouring, serving, Holy Spirit gifts, water baptism, tithing and giving. We also learn to adopt each other, caring for each other, and strengthening the generations.
2. COMMUNITY (Confronting loneliness) LEARNING TO BE FRIENDS. EAT DRINK SHARE: To help people connect to a community of purpose and meaning. It is for celebration, recognition \& affirmation, learning to serve each other, learning counterculture, and learning to live Christlike lives in a hostile world.
3. SOCIETY (Confronting physical poverty) LEARNING TO BE A GOOD NEIGHBOUR: Learning to love \& serve others, learning to contribute to the well-being of society by creating value. Learning to solve problems \& innovate, bringing the wisdom of God into the brokenness of our world by acts of service and kindness.
3 WAYS WE CAN MAKE CHRIST KNOWN IN OUR WORLD
1. BY LEARNING HOW TO LOVE OUR NEIGHBOUR - because we are loved by Christ.
2. BY LEARNING TO INTEGRATE OUR FAITH INTO OUR WORK - because we see our work as a way of serving God’s purposes.
3. BY LEARNING TO FIND WAYS TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE WELL-BEING OF OUR SOCIETY, because we understand love in action is effective.
7 SIGNS OF A HEALTHY CHURCH
Luke 22:41-42 J.B. Phillips: Then Jesus went off by himself, and falling on his knees, prayed in these words, “Father, if you are willing, take this cup away from me, but it is not my will, but yours, that must be done.
A good question to ask yourself is this: What is important to God? Have I made it important to me? Am I willing to make it important to me? Another question that you can ask yourself: What is important to my church? Have I made it important to me? Am I willing to make it important to me?
What’s important to you will be seen in your convictions. We follow the example of Jesus with this.
1 Corinthians 13:1 (TLB): If I had the gift of being able to speak the languages of men \& angels, but did not LOVE others, I would only be making a distracting noise.
Hebrews 11:6 (NIV): Without FAITH it is impossible to please God because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
Let’s be motivated by love \& full of faith. Rituals and ceremony does not mean a church is healthy. Music and preaching do not mean a church is healthy. It’s our personal relationship with Jesus that defines our health. If you grow, the church grows.
1. SOCIAL CONNECTION | RELATIONSHIPS \& FRIENDSHIPS
Are you connected relationally, and do you help others to get connected relationally? Your relationship with Jesus should help you with your relationships with other people. A sign of a healthy church can be seen in the quality of the friendships \& relationships.
2. SERVING | MAKING IT BETTER
Jesus came to serve. What would happen if you started each day with an attitude to serve? Our relationship with Jesus should help increase our desire to serve. A sign of a healthy church is seen in the spirit of people wanting to serve. When you serve Jesus, you serve people. When you serve people, you serve Jesus.
3. SELF-FEEDING | PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY
Are you willing to take responsibility for learning \& applying God’s word to my life? This will help you to develop maturity. Are you able to feed yourself \& help others who need help? A sign that a church is healthy can be seen in the level of responsibility \& maturity in the people.
4. TITHING | A DECLARATION OF OWNERSHIP
Are you willing to put God first and practice honour? Tithing is not about getting your money. It’s about returning to God what is already his. Tithing brings God’s blessing over your life. A sign of a healthy church is seen in the number of people who want to honour God \& put him first.
5. HEART FOR THE HOUSE | A SACRIFICAL CONTRIBUTION
Are you willing to make a sacrifice to invest in the work of building God’s house? Are you willing to become a kingdom builder? It’s a call to prayer, it’s a call to worship \& it’s an opportunity to increase our faith capacity. A sign of a healthy church is seen in the willingness of the people who want to carry \& contribute to the vision of the church.
6. SOCIAL KINDNESS | HELPING OTHERS IN NEED LOCALLY
Are you willing to get involved with making a difference in our city? Staying outward focused \& working with others. A desire to help the vulnerable in society as an individual and as a community. A sign of a healthy church can be seen in its actions and generosity towards others in need
7. STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIPS | CONFRONTING POVERTY GLOBALLY
Do you care \& are you willing to get involved with helping people break out of the cycle of poverty? Can we find common ground with others who are innovative in breaking the cycle of poverty over people \& communities? A sign of a healthy church can be seen in its passion to free people \& communities from the cycle of poverty.
OUR SUPPORT - A21, VISION RESCUE, CHARITY WATER, COMPASSION, TOGETHER FOR BERLIN
When we grow, the church grows. When we love well, serve faithfully, and live on mission—at church, in community, and in society—we make Christ known in real and tangible ways. Our calling is simple but costly: to know Christ deeply and to make Him known faithfully.
PERSONAL REFLECTION
- Write down the “One Thing” that stood out to you from today’s message. How can you see this in your day-to-day life and apply it this week? Who can you share it with?
- Your convictions reveal your priorities. Have you made what is important to God important to you? Love, faith, service, generosity, and responsibility are not optional extras—they are signs of spiritual health in our lives and in the church.
- A healthy faith expresses itself through action: loving your neighbour, serving, giving generously, and partnering with the mission of the church. In what practical ways are you contributing to the well-being of others in your community?
Heavenly Father, thank You for calling us to follow You. Align our hearts with what matters most to You. Grow us in love, strengthen us in faith, and help us take responsibility for living out the gospel in our everyday lives. Make us a healthy church—rooted in You, united in community, and active in serving our city and beyond, Amen.
